A rougher, more weathered ledgestone

Country Ledge is ledgestone with the polish taken off. The pieces vary more in length and height than Ledge, the faces are rougher, and the courses wander a little, so the wall looks hand-laid rather than machine-stacked. It suits farmhouse and craftsman exteriors, fireplaces in rooms with wood and leather, and any project where a perfectly even stack would look too neat.

Three colors: Tulsa in warm cream and tan, Norris Gray in cool mid-grays, and San Francisco in browns with darker flecks. The Country Ledge fireplace in Lakewood on our projects page shows how much depth the rougher face gives under room light.

Piece sizes and weight

Pieces run 3 to 13.25 inches long and 1.5 to 4 inches high. Weight is 5 to 8 pounds per square foot, the same as every profile we make.

Installing Country Ledge

Country Ledge is an adhered manufactured stone veneer and goes on like any other: a weather-resistive barrier and metal lath over framed walls, a scratch coat, then each piece is buttered with mortar and pressed to the wall. Over concrete or block, the scratch coat goes straight onto the masonry. Keep the stone at least 4 inches above grade and 2 inches above paving, use corners at every outside corner, and follow the manufactured stone veneer installation guide and your local code. Country Ledge is usually laid drystack; a raked joint gives it a more hand-built, farmhouse look.

How to order Country Ledge

Every color is its own product. Open the color, enter the wall area in square feet, and add corners in linear feet if the wall turns a corner. The order minimum is 100 square feet of flats per color; corners have no minimum and can be ordered alone. Prices are on every product page, factory-direct, with no dealer in between.

Stone is made to order in Lenexa, Kansas, and is usually ready in 2 to 4 weeks. Most customers pick up at the plant; if you cannot, we arrange freight to your address and you pay the carrier. Because every run is made for one job, orders are final sale. Order the whole wall from one run so the color stays consistent, and add 10 percent for cuts and waste.

For larger projects, ask for a sample board and a project quote. Get a quote or call 913-345-8888, Monday through Friday.

Questions about Country Ledge

What is the difference between Ledge and Country Ledge?

Same shape family, different face. Ledge is tighter and more even; Country Ledge is rougher, with more variation in piece size and a more weathered look. Put a sample of each side by side at the plant and the difference is obvious.

Does Country Ledge work on a fireplace?

It is one of our most popular fireplace stones. Interior installation is the same as exterior: lath and scratch coat over framing or cement board, then mortar-set pieces. Ask us about clearances to the firebox for your appliance.

How many square feet do I need for a fireplace?

Measure the width and height of the face you are covering, subtract the firebox opening, and add 10 percent. A typical floor-to-ceiling surround runs 60 to 120 square feet; our minimum is 100 square feet of flats per color.
